Manchester United have this morning reiterated that Cristiano Ronaldo is "not
for sale", hours after the player confirmed his wish to join Real
Madrid this summer.
Ronaldo overshadowed Germany’s dramatic European Championship quarter-final
victory over Portugal by confirming his wish to leave Old Trafford following
his country's 3-2 defeat.
However United are fiercely resisting his departure, with Sir Alex Ferguson determined to let the player sit in the stands rather than sell him to a leading European rival.
"Further to Friday's press speculation about where Cristiano Ronaldo's future lies, the club has moved to reiterate its stance on the matter: United are not listening to offers," a club statement read. "The club reaffirmed to ManUtd.com on Friday morning that the 23-year-old United star is 'not for sale'."
Last night Ronaldo called upon United to sell him to Real and the player hopes the transfer can be completed while he is on a three-week holiday.
“The possibilities are great, but, as I’ve always said, it doesn’t depend only
on me,” Ronaldo said. “In the next few days, we will see if we can arrive at
an agreement. I have many desires and in the next few days they will become
clear.”

I think Ronaldo has forgotten that SAF brought him as an inexpirienced winger and then converted him to one of the world best players, He has behaved so badly in the recent weeks and i am definately sure that if he comes back to Old trafford next season he wouldnt be as best as he was,
Daniel , Ada, USA
Sell him and buy a couple of the excellent Russians with some of the money!
Ricardo, Melbourne, Australia
I agree that its time Ronaldo stop behaving like a spoil bratt. Portugal's lost to Germany was clearly due to the very selfish way the Portugues play their game. They (Portugal) has probably the most skillful players, but they don't play as a team. Football is a team sport and MU needs team players.

For the sake of football as a whole United have to make a stand if they dont the heritage of the club built up over the last 50 years will be ruined over night by a petulant youngster who in all honesty did not shine in the this European Championship .Like many other great players at Old Trafford his talent has been outstanding because of the vision of two great mangers A few weeks in the stands will do him the world of good!

Ronaldo has had his day in the sun. He will find out the grass is (not) greener on the other side. He is (not) the best, ManU should sell him, then show just how ordinary he is, when they meet in the Champions League.
Hugh, Buckfastleigh, England
i want to say only one point , united don"t sell to him real. united make to loan him to league two one club, after one years .sell him to back in there . that is better way for him . Jose Mourinho told before, he is not good person from portugal.stupied player .clean it him from united ,

Great self-belief and superb skills should be accompanied by courtesy and respect for others, including your employer. This young man won the title for United last year with his goals. It's a pity he shows complete lack of respect for everyone but Cristiano. Onward and upwards ManU. Bye Ronnie.

No Matt, he had the potential when he was at Sporting and he developed his game in recent years. He would've been at thesame level if he was at any other so called "big" club.
If he wants to leave, there isnt much the club can do. There is no way they will let him sit in the stands!

If they stick togeather Rooney Ronaldo and Tevez could one day be spoken in the same breath as Best Law & Charlon if he goes he will be less well remembered than the other Ronnies - Corbet&Barket - who does the guy think he is?
john coles, Manchester, UK
Jose Mourinho got slammed for saying that Ronaldo had no class. Now we can all see how right he was.
Mark Harper, Barcelona, Spain
i say let him go for the right price and demand a world class player or players in return, wesley schneider and robinho with fifty million would be about the right price............... after last night's game against the germans, it is clear to see that he is NOT the best player in the world
eugene, tralee, ireland
Ronaldo is behaving like a very spoilt child.
He needs to be sat on the bench for the whole of next season. THEN they can sell him!
Clive Britcher, Caracas, Venezuela
He's not Paul Scholes...the ultimate English football PRO..
Nazri, KL, Malaysia
Reserve game gates should go up next year.
paul, warrington, england.
I think Ronaldo needs to stop believing his own hype and remember that United made him the player he is.
His recent behaviour has been appalling - most notably not celebrating with his team-mates when Utd won the CL Final, and not staying on the pitch to shake hands with the Germans last night.
Matt, Manchester,
I think it would be a mistake NOT to sell. Force him to stay, and he's not going to be happy. His performances will NOT be the same.(assuming he actually plays, and not just sits in the stands) One year on, you'll have to sell him anyway, at a much reduced price. Get rid of him now. I'd get Deco.
Steve, Bordeaux, France
Let him go - take the money. Then we can watch Rooney shine again. Ronaldo has been holding Rooney back for too long. As least from the sale it'll help the Glaziers play the clubs debts. No man is bigger than the club (apart from Ferguson)
