There are few things more pitiful than the fake celebrity blog written by a PR minion. Video blogging is far more fun, because it’s real(ish).

P Diddy is king of the video bloggers . His diatribes are the real thing, like being trapped in a lift with a multimillionaire ranting about issues such as oil prices : “I want to give a shout out to my Saudi Arabian brothers. If you want to send me some money for my jet, I would truly appreciate it.” Later, he got back on his jet : "Gas priced dropped this week, so I got the big boy out."

On the US election, he laid into Sarah Palin : “Alaska? I don’t know if there’s any black people in Alaska", before issuing a shamefaced apology because he was so impressed by her convention speech.

ShatnerVision is a slightly different proposition: “Join William Shatner and his daughter Lisabeth as ShatnerVision goes live in a special live chat event”. Shatner mainly discusses how grateful he is.

Daryl Hannah’s Love Life (warning: Auto play soft rock) is a ghastly video blog in which Hannah demonstrates her green credentials by flying to the Caribbean to hang out with Richard Branson: “Within 12 months, we’re hoping Necker Island can become carbon neutral.”

Issac Mizrahi (the fashion designer from the early '90s) is another off-the cuff vlogger, issuing breathless updates like: "I'm sending a mass email right now because Barack Obama just called me. Mr Barack Obama!"
