Hamilton’s, Liverpool

The brainchild of Natasha Hamilton, the former Atomic Kitten, Hamilton’s is right at the heart of Wag country – the Metquarter is Liverpool’s swankiest shopping mall, with Armani, Guess and Hugo Boss outlets. Everyone from Page 3 girls to the Arctic Monkeys guitarist Jamie Cook attended the opening, and the hostess even sang. Though she’s unlikely to be warbling away there on Saturday afternoons, Hamilton’s is still the perfect place to drop in on if you’re shopped out. Restore your energy levels with Mediterranean treats, from stuffed olives to deli delights. And don’t forget to order that glass of chardonnay.

Forth Floor, Harvey Nichols, Edinburgh

Atop the chicest department store in town, Forth Floor brings a bit of Beverly Hills to the Scottish capital. The terrace overlooking the city is reminiscent of the hyper-trendy open-air cafe at the top of Barneys, in LA, and the menu is equally hip. Go for lunch – steak-frites, scallops and roast cod – and you’ll see why many people call it the best place to eat in the city. Service is slick and the puddings are sexy – try the coconut and white-chocolate panna cotta. Even the keenest ladies who lunch don’t escape its minimal loveliness until well after 3pm.

Avoca Cafe, Dublin

Dublin’s yummy mummies fall over themselves to wind up at pram-friendly Avoca, the city’s most elegant place to breast-feed. Ireland’s answer to Liberty, the store is 280 years old and crammed with shabby-chic accoutrements and cashmere fashion. Pit stops at the in-house restaurant are equally rustic – homemade bread, organic jam and “just come out of the allotment” salads – but the real highlight is afternoon tea. Cram your piehole with delicious scones and cream, and you’ll skim round the rest of your present-shopping. Pick up a copy of The Avoca Café Cookbook on the way out.
